Barkëtek was conceived out of the desire to provide our dogs with well-designed products that are both functional and stylish. The search for pet products led us to disappointment after disappointment in an endless sea of mass-produced pink and blue plastic objects. We decided to change that. Beginning with sketching and prototyping, we kept it simple and functional - designed, never decorated. Every detail was purposefully designed with no extra frills.

In addition to the physical products, we recognized that for this business to be successful we needed a strong identity that represents our design ethos. The name is a combination of the barking nature of our favorite canines + our backgrounds in architecture - arriving at the name "Barkëtek".

Product Design Responsibility

When conceptualizing new products (whether it is a building or home decor objects) it is our role as designers to consider the environmental impacts of our actions. This is why from day one we ingrained sustainability practices into the identity of the Barketek brand by committing to designing long-lasting pet products made from recycled and sustainably sourced materials across all the products lines.
